Monday.
Dear Sara
Headache again this morning -- the evening and the morning being the fifth day 91 of it, so I take unkindly to letter writing as to everything else. I spent Thursday and Friday at the Taylors, at Sydenham, thereby missing something better of course -- namely seeing Fonblanque 92 at Mrs. Parkes's. Mrs. Sidney Hawks, formerly Miss Ashurst, 93 came to Mrs. Taylor's on Friday and smoked her cigarette with a charming non-chalance. Harriet Martineau has sent us an article on Niebuhr 94 (don't tell). By the way she is a perfect lady in her letters and in little matters of detail, so far as I have seen, and shews to advantage compared with her brother.
Yesterday we dined at Mr. Johnson's at Shacklewell. Your Adonis Mr. Badler was there. There is a charming drawing hanging up in the dining-room -- The Pleiads -- a group of female forms, of course, with a star on each of their heads. I liked it particularly. Can't you do something of the same sort?
I'm so glad to hear that your cold is on the wane.
