MS: Yale. Endorsed: April 30/47. Extract published: Cross, I, 155.
Friday Evening.
My dear Sara
My strong conviction about my ménage was quite right. I find painters all behind hand, and sisters and brothers besetting me. But it is one of my pleasantest thoughts now I am come home that you said and therefore I am sure felt, that you would have liked me to be with for a day or two. Thank you for that and every other loving word or look you ever gave me.
I did so long to see you after hearing Elijah just to exchange an exclamation of delight. Last night I had a perfect treat too, in I Puritani. 661 Castellan was admirable as Elvira, and Gardoni is a seraph. N.B. -- I liked the Ballet less -- another sign of age. Love to Mrs. Hennell,
Thine
Pollian.
