My dear Nephew
I am much obliged to you for your kind attention in writing to let me know of your dear Father's death.
I share in your sorrow both for the loss and the long and severe suffering which went before. It is a sorrow which I have strong reason to share, for all my memories of your Father were those of unbroken kindness and generous brotherliness on his part towards me. I should like very much to write to your Mother, but I have unfortunately lost her address. Will you offer to her for me my best love and sympathy, and assure her of my deep interest in all that concerns her? If she were ever to come to London, I hope she would let me have the great pleasure of taking her by the hand again. Always
