May 2. 1872.
My dear Mr. Browning
The precious little medal has come safely to me this evening, and I shall preserve it as a remembrance of many good things -- chiefly of your friendship. Many thanks for thinking of me.
A week ago we thought we knew where we should settle for the next few months, but since then our prospects have been changed. We have several places in view, but we shall be obliged to take some small railway journeys before we decide between them. 516 In haste,
Ever yours most sincerely
M. E. Lewes.
