My dear Mrs. Pattison
The trains are so arranged that we find no more suitable time for presenting ourselves than about 12 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday. I fear this will cause rather an early disruption of your morning, but you must not think of us until we appear at your house. You must be prepared to see me looking more of a wretch than usual, for I was ill almost all the time we were away. With high regards to the Rector,
