My dear Mrs. Harrison
When you said yesterday that you were in need of a cook, I was not aware that the young woman 638 whom I had mentioned to you would like to undertake a nurse's place. But on talking to her mother I find that "Mary" would be rejoiced to have such a place as yours if you considered her experience adequate. She has taken care of her sister's children at various ages from babyhood upward, and is at the reasonable age of seven and twenty.
At least I am doing no harm in asking you if you would like to see her. Her manners and voice are excellent, and she has a fine healthy person.
The ground of my interest in her is my respect for her mother. And I have reason to believe that her habits of feeling and conduct are much above the average in young women offering themselves for domestic service.
