Dearest Mignon
At last we are in the old place again, but it vexes my soul a little that if you could come to see us on Friday we might not be at home till 'bd past 5, having to do parental duty in seeing our children's new house.
I am unhappy about my husband, who is grievously ailing. This anxiety spoils all joy, which would otherwise be abundant with me in spite of the world's calamities. The newspaper makes me sad one part of the day, but I recover myself and find the air sweet nevertheless. I suppose nobody ever committed suicide because the world was full of suffering, unless he felt the fact through some misery of his own.
