Dearest Cara
By an oversight I have left behind the two volumes of Fl'fcgel's German Dictionary, which you will find in my room. Will you have the goodness to send them to me by Railway, as they are too bulky for anyone to carry. Also my scissors for want of which I am tormented.
Robert Chambers 1006 called yesterday -- a plain Scotchman with a strong Doric accent and small twinkling eyes. The Papers for the People are to be closed, not being so successful as some others of the Chambers publications -- only 35,000 have been sold.
Tell Mr. Noel that Mr. Chapman has been exerting himself about the work on mills -- I hope, with some good result. Meanwhile the terrible [Mill] hight John Stuart has ground F. Newman to powder in the Westm[inster]! 1007
When you send my Dictionary I wish you would ask Mr. Bray to let me have Mill's System of Logic which I don't suppose he wants at present. I shall be glad to have it by me for reference. I am training myself up to say adieu to all delights, I care for nothing but doing my work and doing it well.
Tell Sara especially that Greg wishes the writer of the notice in the Leader to know that he did not intend to omit Hennell for whose work he has a high esteem. 1008 I can't remember the exact words and have not his letter by me.
Frederika Bremer 1009 is not yet arrived. The house is only just exorcised of Dr. Brabant.
