June 21. 1852.
Dear Trio
Your joint assurance of welcome strengthens the centripetal force that would carry me to you, but on the other hand sundry considerations are in favour of the centrifugal force which I suppose will carry me to Broadstairs or Ramsgate. On the whole I prefer to keep my visit to you as a bonne bouche when I am just in the best physical and mental state for enjoying it. I hope to get away on Saturday or on Wednesday at the latest.
Who should walk in the other day but Mrs. Pears? I was delighted to have her for an hour -- though half the pleasure was destroyed by seeing her suffer from a bad headache.
I think the 3d number of the W.R. will be capital -- thoroughly readable and yet not frothy. Poor Mr. Chapman has been in agonies of anxiety about money matters, but there is a patch of blue visible between the clouds now. Nothing has happened worth telling you.
Pray is the opposition paper come out? 121 Mr. Beveridge told Mr. Chapman that it was -- indeed I think Mr. C. said he had seen a number of it, and moreover that it was partly printed in London!! Do you know that dodge? There is a printing office where the general news of provincial papers is done -- the other half of the space being filled up in the country with the local news.
I have nothing more to say -- so I had better say it.
Ever your true and loving
Marian.
