My dear Barbara
I want a housemaid with a first-rate character -- our nice little Charlotte having divined in herself a genius for cooking which makes her want to be a kitchen maid. Can you help me? I know you will, if you can.
We are just come home, and after a little ramble of two or three days we shall be settled here for the winter. 150 I imagine you at Blandford Square by this time, and think it safest to send my note there. We expect to leave town again on Thursday and to return on Saturday.
In any case I hope to see you soon and shall keep all gossip till then.
