MS: Berg Collection, New York Public Library.
Monday Morning.
Dearest Barbara
Now you are getting morbid and remorseful! I saw nothing on your part but the most perfectly graceful behaviour -- indeed I was struck with your immediate thoughtfulness on behalf of Rosetti, 894 that he should not be robbed of too much time by visitors. My own immediate feeling (knowing your old acquaintance with him) was that we should be interfering with both the artistic and friendly chat that would naturally occur between you. On all other grounds I was glad that we should all go together.
I am tormented with my teeth -- a depressing condition even for brave cheerful people, and I am not queen of them. So I can hardly bear seeing anybody. I hope to be better before Thursday. 895
Ever your loving
Marian.
