Thursday Evening.
My dear Miss Marshall
I wonder if you and Mrs. William Marshall have any better engagement for Saturday evening than to come and join a very informal little party that we shall have. There will be one or two people with a little musical skill and still more musical appreciation. You would add to our pleasure if you could come, and I am sorry I did not mention the matter when you were with us, instead of making it the subject of a note, which always seems to imply that an invitation is worth more than this happens to be worth.
Our friend Mr. Pigott has a delicious tenor voice that I think you would like to hear and I am sure he and others would like to hear Mrs. William Marshall play. Our amiable pianist of all work is a very nice German -- Dr. Baetcke, 164 physician to the Dalston hospital -- of whom you may have heard something.
