GE to Mary Marshall, London, [7 November 1865]
MS: Mr. Gerald Bullett.
The Priory, | 21. North Bank, | Regents Park.
Tuesday Evening.
Dear Miss Marshall
I think this note will reach you in time to prevent the vexation of our missing each other again. Tomorrow we go to lunch with Mr. Lewes's mother, and, for a wonder, shall not be at home after 1 o'clock. I hope you will be able to come the next day, or at any rate, very soon.
Sara hinted to me that you had been suffering in health. I hope that is all over now. We have been perfect wretches -- fit for a lazaretto. But now we are emerging from our dyspeptic miseries. I think most people have been ill lately except a few hardened creatures who have no sympathies with their kind. Do come soon.
Ever yours affectionately
M. E. Lewes.
