My dear Miss Wedgwood
It happens that for next Thursday we have made an engagement with some friends 893 in the country. I am sorry for this little perversity in things. But I hope you may not find it difficult to fix on another day when I may have the pleasure of seeing you. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in next week I expect to be quite at liberty, and if you will kindly send me word whether you can give me a little of your time on either of those days, I shall feel it a gain to keep the afternoon clear of other engagements.
