Dear Friend
I hope you will not think me too troublesome if I beg you to send a revise of my article 519 to be enclosed in the Leader which is sent to Mr.
Lewes. If you will take care that Mr. Galloway 520 at the Leader Office, has the article on Friday with instructions to fold it inside the next Leader, I shall receive it on Tuesday. We shall then merely have a trifle to pay for the additional weight.
I have been much grieved to read of Mr. John Chapman's death, 521 which I am sure has affected you deeply, even in the midst of more personal troubles. I am really anxious to hear that these troubles are in some degree lessened, but I know that letters cost both time and money and I wait in the certainty that you will let me hear of you when more important matters will allow you to write any letter that is not absolutely necessary. Mr. Lewes begs me to send you his kind regards. He shares my interest in the result of all the difficulties which you have indicated in your letters.
Our time has been spent delightfully here. We have some charming acquaintances, and we enjoy the scenery more and more as it puts on its Autumn clothing. I shall really leave Weimar with regret, but I suppose we shall not stay here more than a fortnight longer.
I hope Mrs. Chapman and the children are well and your own health good in spite of hard work and harder destiny.
