I think an article on [Silly Women's Novels] 731 might be made the vehicle of some wholesome truth as well as of some amusement. I mentioned this to Mr. Lewes last night and he thought the idea a good one.
Besides the [Young] I have only such articles in my head as would require more reading and preparation than I am able to give them this quarter. . . .
I am going to make rather an odd request. When Harriet Martineau dies 732 -- if I outlive her -- and her memoirs are published, I should like to write an article upon her. I need hardly say that mine would be an admiring appreciation of her.
