Dear Friend
I have received your letter of the 30th, in which you state the reasons that, in your opinion, justified you in leaving unanswered my letter written two months ago.
If that letter of mine implied any misconception or contained any word not strictly just, I beg so far, to apologize for it.
Several of your observations and statements I have read with much surprize, but I forbear commenting on them, since it does not seem likely that further letter-writing would advance our mutual understanding. I remain
