Dear Friend
I think Dr. J. Brown will do -- I have written today to Geo. Combe to say so and to beg him to conclude the negotiation, so that matter is settled. 117
With regard to other articles, we only want two, supposing that Martineau writes the one you proposed to him. I dare say your suggestion has been "working in his head like barm," 118 and that his thoughts have already shaped themselves to some purpose. You said Oxenford 119 wanted to write, but I forget what subject he proposed. If it were a good one, I think you might do worse than close with him. There was Mr. Don, or Dunne, 120 too, whose articles I was to read in the Edinburgh.
Failing Martineau, I think we should get Foxton. 121 A good subject for him would be the Popery of Dissent.
