My dear Mr. Blackwood
I wrote a hasty note yesterday to tell Mr. William Blackwood that his letter with its valuable enclosures had arrived, but I have still to tell you also that I am very much obliged by your advancing the rate of payment for Theophrastus Such beyond the original agreement.
The only thing wanting was a better account of your health, and I have begged Mr. William to send me news of any improvement. Here we are having delicious weather, and I do not like to think that you are scant of breath in the clear sunshine. I am melancholy enough under it, but my health is better, and I try to get along from day to day without carrying about a sorrowful face. I am sure Mrs. Blackwood is anxious about you, and when you say that you are not so well, I always think of her. Be a good, good patient, and cherish your life wisely for her sake.
