January 28. 1879.
My dear Mr. Blackwood
I am very much obliged to you for sending me the cheque and statement received this morning. The sales for the year seem very satisfactory especially considered in the light of the general commercial depression. Your packet would have been a great joy.
Pray do not run needless risks of falling or other injury. I think with a new trembling of every frail life that has love clinging around it.
Please give my best regards to Mrs. Blackwood and all your family, including the "lame cousin" who I hope is fast recovering his usual gait.
Always yours truly
M. E. Lewes.
