My dear Sir
I have reconsidered the carol, on your suggestion. 716 But I think its removal would reduce the effect of the scene, and Mr. Lewes cries out loudly against its removal. I hardly see how it can jar, since it occurs under circumstances of more reverence and devoutness than people are wont to associate with Christmas Carols in these days.
I am delighted with your anecdote about the "Weaver." I incline to the theory that the proverb was an impromptu. I rely on your correcting me if I am ever wrong about matters of horsemanship and horsedealing
The printing has been admirably prompt. Thanks for your cheering letters. I wish they came out of circumstances entirely cheering for you.
