My dear Sir
Finding my story grow longer than I expected under my hands, I send you as much M.S. as I have ready, instead of waiting, as I had intended, until I had wrought the story up to its climax. If you feel a reluctance to print until you have seen the whole, it will do no harm for you to have read the first half a little beforehand. If, on the contrary, you have no fears about printing, I shall be glad to learn your decision as soon as possible, since that would free me from any unnecessary hurry in winding up the story, which will require at least three -- possibly four -- numbers of the Magazine. I mean, that the whole story will be in three or four parts. I remain, my dear Sir,
