MS: Miss Emily Driscoll. Hitherto unpublished.
My dear Sir
I am doubly obliged to you, first for the kind inquiries contained in your note to Mr. Lewes and next for the information which you were good enough to send so promptly and which he had asked for on my behalf.
I have had no unpleasant consequences from our excursion, which I highly enjoyed. I only hope Madame Sch'f6ll has equally escaped without cold or over-fatigue. Mr. Lewes unites with me in kindest regards to her and yourself. Believe me,
Yours very truly
Marian Evans.
