March 13. 66.
My dear Sir
If you will be so kind as to read the enclosed letters, 418 I need hardly say anything in explanation of them. Mr. Bray is a very old friend of mine, and I can rely on his word and judgment in a question of character. You will not suspect me of imagining that such intervention as this of mine can have or ought to have much effect in determining the choice of an employ'e9. But the young man's letter tells rather in his favour, apart from the mistakes of fact, which your abundant experience will have prepared you to excuse. I remain, my dear Sir,
Yours very sincerely
M. E. Lewes.
