My dear Mr. Myers
We shall be delighted to see Mr. Gurney 206 in town (we shall be up again some time early in November). But just now we prefer having you and Mr. Sidgwick only. 207 Mr. Lewes has not been very well of late and is easily tired, so that we wish all our friends -- except the exceptions -- to consider us en retraite. You and Mr. Sidgwick are just the sort of exceptions that we choose, but please don't tell.
I should be very sorry to think that I should not see more of Mr. Gurney, who greatly charmed me. I trust that I am only deferring a pleasure. In haste,
