MS: Mrs. Ouvry. Hitherto unpublished.
Friday Evening.
Dearest Boy
The enclosed letters came today. Finding them in the drawer and seeing they came from Natal, I opened them because you were not coming today. The bill drawn on you at the Union Bank will now, I suppose, create no difficulty. 179 But if you had not opened your account there, it might have been awkward. On the back I have made a copy of Eliza's statement of expenses. It is clear, she wants £200 and I must make arrangements to let her have that sum. 180
Your loving
Mutter.
