Dear Friend
I shuddered when I saw the Coventry post mark with an unknown handwriting; for it was only yesterday I had a stupid letter about the Liggins business. So it was a relief as well as a pleasure to see your well-known hand inside.
Leech 270 is the prince of humourous artists, but I dare say it would be out of the question to get anything from him. Still, such men know others, rising in their own department, whom they can recommend. Suppose you were to write to Leech? I'm glad to see you are at such merry work, as a variety. The sermon is ingenious, but I think I like the spelling of the letter to the schoolmaster still better.
Ever yours
G. E.
I have such a pug-dog -- "so well smutted," as a waterman said of him the other day.
