MS: The Countess of Iddesleigh. Envelope: Miss Parkes | 2 Saville Row. Postmark: Albion St. | 10 | JA 2 | 54. Hitherto unpublished.
Cambridge Street | Sunday Evening.
Dear Friend
I am conscious of having played the hostess most ungracefully the other evening and of having given you poisonously strong tea and been altogether distraite and disagreeable.
Forgive me, dear, for I was indeed rather in a state of flurry, and prove that you forgive me by consenting to come to me again when I return.
Till then think of me kindly as your naughty but loving and trying-to-be-better 426
Marian.
