The Grange. Northend | Fulham.
My dear Mr. Lewes
Will you say I accept them and with gratitude for being so affectionately remembered. 474 Even the little word in your note that tells us how he could be mindful at the last of kind thoughts for his friends is inexpressibly touching and sweet to us. We do want to know about your mother -- we need not say how day and night she is in our thoughts and how hard it feels to be so useless. And we will depend upon you for giving us any little intelligence that you may have time to send. I speak for both of us that we wait with anxiety for some sign that the love of friends may comfort her a little.
Yours very truly and gratefully
E. Burne-Jones.
