Friday 26 March 1880
I went yesterday and had 5 minutes alone with her, enough to hear she had not been well, was tired, and thought "she had done her duty" and might leave town the end of April or beginning of May. Then the bell rang, and before the new visitors were announced I kissed her and left. She said I should go to the Channel Islands -- I was looking pale and overdone.
