Fedalma sits amongst the olive trees and thinks about her fate. Silva emerges and tells Fedalma that he has deserted his post in Bedmar in order to find her. Their reunion demonstrates one of the novels larger themes of the strength of love against other motivations like family and heritage. (Book 3)
