Old Mr. Donnithorne speaks with Mr. and Mrs. Poyser about the possibility of switching farms with another tenant. Mr. Poyser says little and doesn't want to tell the Squire no, so looks to his wife for guidance. Mrs. Poyser is hostile to the idea and argues vehemently with Mr. Donnithorne (Book 4, Chapter 32).
