Deronda and Kalonymos

Deronda and Kalonymos, a friend of Deronda's grandfather, sit across from one another with Deronda's grandfather's chest containing family records at their feet. This scene marks Deronda’s full entrance into the Jewish world, as Kalonymos tells Deronda of his Jewish heritage (Book 8, Chapter 60).
