Many Raveloe locals come to Silas’s home asking for cures from their illnesses, especially the mothers wanting help for their children. He had given Sally Oates a concoction of foxglove after witnessing Sally suffering from symptoms similar to his mother’s and gained a reputation as a wise man. Silas drives them away.
