Description
Adam discovers Arthur and Hetty's affair. Because Adam had intended to marry Hetty, he confronts Arthur regarding his intentions. Their argument becomes violent and Adam strikes Arthur who falls unconscious. Adam becomes distraught, fearing he might have killed Arthur (Book 4, Chapter 27).
