South Farm, George Eliot’s Birthplace

Robert Evans was employed by the Newdigate family at South Farm, Arbury. Robert Evans managed the 7000-acre estate and even acted as a relief officer at times by helping distribute assistance to the impoverished, especially when the harvest was poor.
