Gurney, Edmund (1847-1888)

Edward Gurney was a friend of George Eliot. Gurney studied law, medicine, and music. He pushed for research into unconventional medical topics like hypnosis and hallucination. Gurney may have inspired Eliot, in part, for Daniel Deronda.
