Description

James Fields is best known through his work in publishing through his company Ticknor and Fields, which printed some of the most well-known American authors of the time, as well as the American editions of the works of many famous British authors, including George Eliot's major poetry. Fields, with his wife Annie Adams Fields, established a friendship with Eliot and visited her home twice in 1869.
