Evans, Elizabeth Tomlinson (1766-1849)

Elizabeth Evans was the wife of George Eliot’s paternal uncle, Samuel Evans. She was one of the many female preachers of her time, and her astute Methodism influenced Eliot in writing Adam Bede.
