Description

A Florentine scholar who was "minded to take the cowl and join the community of San Marco". Zanobi Acciajoli (1461-1519 or 1520), who, influenced by Savonarola, entered San Marco in 1495. In 1518 he was made prefect of the Vatican, at Rome, and devoted himself to its library. The Acciajoli were a prominent Florentine family, many of whose members were Piagnoni, or followers of Savonarola.
