Santa Maria Novella, Church of (Real)

Santa Maria Novella, Church of (Real),Church in Florence, the facade of which had been completed at the expense of Bernardo Rucellai. Santa Maria Novella was begun by the Dominicans about 1279. The facade, begun in 1350, was completed 1456-70. The richest patrons of the church were the Rucellai.
