Santa Croce, Piazza de (Real),The square in Florence where the public notice of the Trial by Fire, which Tito Melema reads and explains to the crowd, is posted. The Piazza di Santa Croce, in front of the Franciscan church of Santa Croce from which it takes its name, was formerly the scene of tournaments and of the favourite Florentine game of Calcio.
