San Miniato, Hill of (Real),A famous hill overlooking Florence from the south, from which, in the Proem of Romola, the spirit of the ancient Florentine views the modern city and where, in the story, Baldassarre Calvo talks with Romola and tells her that Tito Melema has "another wife". San Miniato is a hill south of Florence from which a particularly fine view of the city is obtained. It is crowned by the Church of San Miniato.
