San Miniato, Convent of (Real)

San Miniato, Convent of (Real),Convent, in the hospital of which Baldassarre Calvo is cared for when he is helpless. This was the ancient Benedictine monastery of San Miniato, connected with the Church of San Miniato on the hill of the same name, called after the martyr San Miniato who was buried there. During a later plague than the one mentioned in Romola the abbey was used as a lazaretto.
