Ponte alle Carraja (Real)

Ponte alle Carraja (Real),Bridge across the Arno, in Florence, the last one passed by Tito when he tries to escape the mob by swimming. The Ponte alla Carraia, then called Ponte Nuovo, was built 1218-20 at the expense of the Frati Umiliati. It was destroyed by an inundation in 1333, restored in 1337, partially rebuilt in 1559, and widened in 1867.
