Pisa (Real)

Pisa (Real),A city conquered by Florence, which had rebelled. Pisa, a city forty-nine miles west of Florence. Captured by Florence in 1406, it reasserted its independence in 1494 at the time of the visit of Charles VIII of France, and was in a state of rebellion during most of the time of Romola.
