Borgo de' Greci (Real)

Title

Borgo de' Greci (Real)

Description

Borgo de' Greci (Real),Street in Florence near which Romola and Tito meet a funeral Carnival procession while returning from their betrothal in Santa Croce. The Borgo de' Greci, a street leading from the Piazza di Santa Croce, has been said mistakenly to take its name from the fact that the Byzantine Emperor and his brother, the Greek Patriarch, were there in 1436. The name is, however, of earlier date, and may be derived from the Greci family.
