Latimer

A shy, poetic, sensitive young man who develops the gift of insight into the minds of others and has his life ruined by this double consciousness. He falls in love with Bertha Grant, his brother Alfred's fiancee, and his clairvoyance shows him both her cold cruel nature and the fact that he is destined to marry her. After his brother's sudden death, Latimer marries Bertha, but the union is unhappy. Latimer discovers that Bertha has planned to kill him, and they separate, Latimer awaiting in solitude the death from heart disease, of which his clairvoyance tells him the exact date.
