Ledru, Annette

A beautiful French woman, Esther Lyon's mother, who died before the opening of the story. Having married a young Englishman, Maurice Christian Bycliffe, against the will of her family, she had followed him to England, where her baby was born and where she learned of her husband's death. After great kindness and devotion from Mr. Lyon she married him, but lived for only a few years.
