Description
George Eliot moved to a house called the Priory, located at 21 North Bank in London, in 1863 after her first three novels were successful. George Eliot and George Henry Lewes held receptions in the drawing room at the Priory, which were widely known as “Sundays at the Priory.” During the receptions, the couple discussed serious topics with their guests, such as literature, philosophy, music, and art.
